| Bio | Cyndi Nickel has cross functional management experience with leadership experience in technology research, business strategy, operations management, product management, sales and R&D engineering. Cyndi was an initiator and founder in three high-tech businesses using emerging technology, while at Hewlett-Packard. Most recently she was a Strategic Planning Executive at Hewlett-Packard Research Labs. While Cyndi was at HP Labs, she improved the quality and value of transferring technology by 65% using a variety of operational changes, providing business consulting, and research project portfolio management. Recently, Cyndi started a new venture, Telemedicine Up Close, which is focused on healthcare needs of rural Texas. The company provides virtual exam rooms that allow primary care physicians to remotely address the health needs of patients in nursing homes, hospice, or in home care situations. Also, the company is bringing to market a new point-of-care diagnostic for rapid detection of bacterial infections based on technology created at Texas A&M University. The diagnostic identifies bacteria and conclusively identifies an effective antibiotic, ruling out antibiotics to which the bacteria has resistance – all at the point-of-care, all within minutes. |
